Vision statement: We envision a world in which the joy of making music is a precious element of daily living for everyone; a world in which every child has a deep desire to learn music and a recognized right to be taught; and in which every adult is a passionate champion and defender of that right.
Mission statement: Founded in 1901, NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) has a mission to strengthen the music products industry and promote the pleasures and benefits of making music.
Australian Music Centre
The Australian Music Centre (AMC) is the national service organisation dedicated to the promotion and support of art music in Australia.
We have many stakeholders, but at the heart of our mission is a commitment to the representation, advocacy, promotion and support of Australian composers and their music. Our important work covers contemporary classical, contemporary jazz and improvised music, experimental music and sound art. We provide career support, manage professional development programs and presents annual and biennial awards.
The AMC houses and curates the most comprehensive catalogue of Australian music, a living collection of scores, recordings, research papers, teaching kits, classroom materials and aggregated media. The collection includes more than 30,000 items by approximately 750 Australian artists. The organisation made the prescient decision to digitise this asset in 2002 and, today, the major part of the AMC’s vast collection has been digitised and is accessible to anyone in the world with a smart device.
In addition to growing, maintaining and animating the collection for its audiences, the AMC provides music publishing, distribution and retail services for major customer groups.
The Joy Dispensary
The Joy Dispensary provides entertainment and transformative creative arts programs within the workplace, schools and a range of communities. Their mission is to uplift, inspire, empower, educate & entertain through creative play and joyful expression.
West Australian Music Teachers’ Association (WAMTA)
The West Australian Music Teachers’ Association strives to promote and develop the teaching, practice and study of the art of music and to safeguard conditions and general aspects of studio music teaching for its members. WAMTA offers professional development, student performance opportunities, networking and social events, and general support.
